No. MovieDEX is not a traditional trivia game. You don’t need to memorize movie facts. Most games focus on opinions, strategy, bluffing, guessing, and banter.

MovieDEX works with 2–8 players, but the ideal group size is 4–8 players where the social dynamics, debates, and voting really shine. Some games can also scale well for larger groups if you play in teams.

MovieDEX games can run anywhere from 15 minutes to around 90 minutes, depending on the group size and which game you choose. For example, lighter games may wrap up quickly, while deeper games like Streaming Wars can run longer and offer more strategic depth.

Most MovieDEX games can be explained in under two minutes, so you can start playing quickly. At the same time, several games — especially Streaming Wars — have enough depth that players continue discovering new strategies as they play.

The base game includes 120 Movie Cards, multiple game boards across 8 gameplay modes, tokens and scoring components, and a rulebook with a quick start guide, all inside a retro inspired game box.
